Renfrew County Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help following the theft of a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander from a driveway in Petawawa on March 25, 2026. The vehicle, which is grey and bears the Ontario licence plate 9V0893, was taken from a home on Hummingbird Lane at approximately 3:30 a.m.
Items belonging to the vehicle owner were later found discarded in the 500 block of Henan Road in Laurentian Valley Township. The OPP Renfrew County Street Crime Unit is assisting the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment with the ongoing investigation.
This incident is part of a string of recent vehicle thefts targeting Toyota models in the Pembroke and Petawawa area. Previous thefts include a black 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander taken from Nuthatch Drive in Petawawa on March 7, and an overnight crime spree on March 1 where three other Toyota vehicles were stolen. Investigators have previously requested that short-term rental property owners in the region come forward if their properties were booked between February 27 and March 2, 2026, as part of their efforts to track those responsible.
The Toyota Highlander has been identified by the Équité Association as one of the most stolen vehicles in the country, with over 3,400 thefts recorded nationwide in 2023. Due to the organized nature of these crimes, police are encouraging residents to review any home security or doorbell camera footage for suspicious activity.
Residents with information regarding this theft can contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1-800-222-TIPS. The organization offers cash rewards of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest or formal charges.
