Three community groups in Pembroke, Ontario have donated more than $37,000 to replace the aging CT scanner at the Pembroke Regional Hospital.
Russell Howell of Petawawa gave $15,000 in memory of his late wife, Pauline “Blondie” Howell, and said it was a way to honour her memory while giving back to the hospital that cared for them both. That donation will help fund the purchase of the new scanner.
The Performance Boat Club Canada raised $15,235 through its annual Giver on the River event, which brought boating fans from across Ontario to the Ottawa River for a day of fundraising. Meanwhile, the first Renfrew County Emergency Services Golf Tournament, held at Whitetail Golf Club in Eganville, brought in $7,471.49.
The money supports the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation’s $10 million Together We Care campaign. Many donors have already helped push the campaign past the $7 million mark, with funds focused on buying a new CT scanner.
The current machine is 14 years old and performs more than 15,000 scans every year. A mobile CT scanner arrived in July 2026 so that imaging services can continue while the new unit is installed. The new scanner is expected to be operational in October 2026.
