The City of Pembroke, Ontario, officially ended its significant weather event declaration on March 12, 2026. This decision comes after a storm involving freezing rain and snow moved through the area earlier in the week.
The weather alert was first put in place on March 11, 2026, as the storm hit the region. Forecasts from Environment Canada helped guide the city and the County of Renfrew during the response to the ice and snow.
Ending the declaration means that city maintenance crews are now able to follow their standard schedules for clearing streets and sidewalks. However, officials warned that the end of the formal event does not mean that every road is currently in perfect condition.
While municipal teams have worked to clear major roads and address utility hazards, such as low-hanging wires that closed a section of Hunter Street, residents are asked to remain cautious while traveling. Any hazards like fallen power lines should be reported immediately to local hydro services.
