Pembroke Regional Hospital is marking two national awareness initiatives this week as part of its ongoing commitment to the health and safety of the community. From May 4 to May 10, the hospital is recognizing Mental Health Week, while also participating in Safety and Health Week, which runs from May 4 to May 9.
Mental Health Week is organized nationally by the Canadian Mental Health Association, with this year’s theme focusing on the importance of social connection in building resilient communities. The hospital administers the Mental Health Services of Renfrew County, which provides both inpatient care and community programs for residents 16 years of age and older. For those in need of immediate support, the hospital maintains a 24/7 mental health crisis line at 1-866-996-0991.
Simultaneously, Safety and Health Week is being promoted by the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, alongside partners Threads of Life and Health and Safety Professionals Canada. This week encourages organizations to focus on the prevention of injury and illness in the workplace.
The hospital’s focus on safety has been further bolstered by the recent launch of a Rapid Assessment of Critical Events (RACE) team in April 2026. This initiative is designed to improve patient safety and care quality for those admitted to the hospital. Pembroke Regional Hospital serves approximately 55,000 residents across Pembroke, Petawawa, and surrounding areas.
