Parents in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows have a new option for summer child care this year. Arts On, the programming arm of the Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Arts Council, is offering after-camp care for the first time during its summer camp season at Riverside Centre.

Camps for children ages 5 to 12 run from July 6 through August 28 at the former Riverside Elementary School at 20575 Thorne Avenue. The new after-camp care runs from 3:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. for kids enrolled in afternoon camps. It costs $44.10, including taxes and fees.

For families with children in both morning and afternoon sessions, a Lunch Hub supervision is available from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. for $42. Half-day camp fees range from $145 to $195, depending on the program.

The lineup includes nine different camps covering theatre, visual arts, fibre arts, and media arts. Younger kids ages 5 to 8 can join Imaginative Play Camp or Creative Arts Camp. The Art of Magic camp is open to both the 5-8 and 8-12 age groups. Older children can try Drawing and Painting, Act Play Perform, Fabric and Yarn, Sewing by Hand, Art and Animation, or Creative Digital Art camps.

Registration opened May 20 through the School District 42 PerfectMind system. The camps are held at Riverside Centre, a repurposed school building that now houses Ridge Meadows College and other community programs. The program is supported by Epic Homes, a local property developer and season title sponsor for The ACT Arts Centre.
