The new standalone Pitt Meadows RCMP detachment is now fully operational, marking the completion of a years-long transition to provide dedicated police services to residents and the Katzie First Nation. Located at 12486 Harris Road, the facility officially opened its front counter services to the public on April 15, 2026.
This milestone follows the city’s official separation from the shared policing model with Maple Ridge, which took effect on April 1, 2026. The move to establish an independent detachment began in 2019 with a comprehensive review of local policing needs, eventually receiving provincial approval in 2021.
Staff Sergeant Michelle Luca has been named the first Detachment Commander for the new station. She leads a team of 24 full-time officers, who are organized into four watches to provide consistent coverage for the area. The detachment is responsible for serving both the City of Pitt Meadows and the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie) First Nation.
Construction of the purpose-built police facility began in November 2023 and concluded in March 2026. The project was completed without a property tax increase, with policing services currently making up approximately 22.7 percent of the city’s operational budget. Residents who wish to see the new building can look forward to a public open house, which is being planned for the fall of 2026.
