Pitt Meadows is set to host eight free outdoor concerts at šxʷhék̓ʷnəs (Spirit Square) every Wednesday evening from July 8 to August 26, 2026. The Summer Serenade series, a local tradition now in its sixth year, will run from 7 to 9 p.m. and feature a mix of big band, jazz, and rock cover acts.
The Bruce James Orchestra, a 19-piece powerhouse jazz ensemble that has been performing in the Vancouver area since 1999, returns as the host band. They will headline four of the eight shows, on July 8 (opening night), August 5, August 19, and August 26 (closing night). Guest performers include the Moonliters Big Band on July 15, Retroactives on July 22, Scary Lizard on July 29, Allegro Music on August 12, and the Jazz Orchestra of the 49th Parallel on August 19.
The concerts take place at 11985 Harris Rd, in the civic centre near City Hall, the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre, and the public library. Residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for family-friendly evenings of music. In case of rain, performances will be cancelled, and the Bruce James Orchestra website will be updated by 5:30 p.m. on the day of the event.
The drive-through lane in front of the Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre will be closed each Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. during the series. Additional parking is available in the centre’s underground lot and north lot.
