According to Environment Canada, Thursday and Friday will feature clear, sunny skies, with daytime temperatures reaching 16 degrees Celsius in the community and climbing as high as 21 degrees Celsius in inland areas.
This period of pleasant weather offers an ideal opportunity for outdoor activities, though the forecast indicates a return to typical spring weather beginning Saturday, April 11. Residents should be prepared for a mix of sun and cloud throughout the weekend, accompanied by a 30 to 40 percent chance of showers. By Tuesday, April 14, conditions are expected to include periods of rain with daytime temperatures cooling to approximately 12 degrees Celsius.
As the region moves into the spring season, the community remains in its annual freshet window, which extends from April through July. During this time, the City of Pitt Meadows closely monitors water levels in the Fraser and Pitt rivers, as approximately 85 to 86 percent of the local area is located within a floodplain. To mitigate these risks, the city is protected by a network of 60 kilometres of dikes, six pump stations, and various drainage systems.
Currently, there is no cause for alarm regarding water levels. The BC River Forecast Centre reports that there are no active flood warnings or advisories in effect for the region, and previous high streamflow advisories that were active in March have since concluded.
