Kennebecasis Valley High School in Quispamsis is inviting the community to mark its 50th anniversary during a special open house on Saturday, May 30, 2026. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the school, located at 398 Hampton Road, offering local families, alumni, and students a chance to celebrate five decades of history.
The school first opened its doors in 1975 and held its official opening in 1976. Now part of the Anglophone South School District, the institution serves as the largest high school in Kings County. Under the leadership of Principal Peter Smith, the school currently supports approximately 1,104 students in grades 9 through 12, guided by a teaching staff of 71.
The afternoon celebration, titled “Knights and Crusaders Unite,” will feature music, food, and activities for all ages. Attendees can also view the school’s legacy, which includes significant achievements in academic and artistic fields, such as three national championship titles in the Reach for the Top trivia competition and success in provincial drama festivals. The school maintains its blue and white colours, operating under the Blue Knights name following a transition in 2022.
To commemorate the milestone, the school has released a 148-page 50th Anniversary Yearbook. The volume highlights five decades of excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts, and is currently available for purchase by current students and alumni through Jostens.
Over the years, the school has seen many graduates go on to achieve notable success in their respective fields. Some of these alumni include former National Hockey League player Randy Jones, Member of Parliament for Fundy Royal Rob Moore, 1996 Olympic basketball player Cynthia Johnston, and actor and comedian Tricia Black.
