The Kennebecasis Regional Police Force has charged a 22-year-old man following a dangerous series of events that began in Rothesay and concluded with an arrest in the Moncton area on April 30, 2026.
Officers from the municipal police service were responding to reports of a stolen vehicle being driven erratically in Rothesay. When they located the vehicle in a parking lot on Hampton Road in Quispamsis, the driver refused to cooperate with a traffic stop. During the encounter, the driver struck a police cruiser and drove directly at an officer before fleeing the scene.
The driver, identified as Zackary Moore, was eventually tracked down and arrested in the Moncton area with assistance from members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachments from Hampton, Sussex, and Moncton.
Moore faces several charges, including two counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He appeared in the Saint John Provincial Court on May 1, 2026, and attended a subsequent bail hearing on May 4, 2026.
