Regular users of the indoor walking track at the qplex in Quispamsis will need to find alternative exercise plans during the first week of April. The facility will close its indoor track from Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 4 p.m. until Sunday, April 5, 2026, at 5 p.m. to accommodate the U18 Atlantic Hockey Championship.
The Saint John Vito’s AAA U18 hockey team is hosting the tournament, which will bring together top youth teams from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Because the walking track doubles as the arena concourse for the qplex arena, the space must be closed to the public to manage tournament operations.
The Town of Quispamsis has apologized for the inconvenience this closure may cause to regular walkers. Typically, the track is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with five laps around the track equaling one kilometre.
For those looking to maintain their fitness routines during the closure, the qplex offers outdoor walking alternatives. The facility features three kilometres of combined trails, including the Matthew’s Brook and Saunders Brook Trail, which are available for use weather permitting.
Residents are encouraged to check the official town website for any further updates regarding the facility. The tournament is sanctioned under the Atlantic Hockey Championship regional body.
