As of Monday afternoon, the temperature sat at 14.2°C with a 60 percent chance of showers. The cool, showery weather is expected to linger through Tuesday night, with a low near 5°C. Overnight lows will stay in the 5 to 7°C range for most of the week, which means frost risk is low even though the area historically has a 50 percent chance of hitting 0°C by September 13.
The weather turns around starting Wednesday, September 16. Environment Canada is calling for sunny skies and a high of 16°C. Thursday will be even nicer with sunshine and a high of 22°C. By Friday, temperatures are expected to reach about 20°C under a mix of sun and cloud. Saturday will bring a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 25°C, and Sunday should be sunny with a high of 25°C, making for ideal outdoor conditions heading into the weekend.
“Normals for mid-September in Raymond are a high of 20°C and a low of 5°C,” Environment Canada notes. The warm-up later this week will push Thursday and weekend highs above those seasonal averages, while Friday sits right at the normal high. El Niño is a key driver of the above-normal temperatures across Alberta this fall, extending the window for outdoor activities and harvest operations.
Residents planning ahead can expect the warm trend to continue through the weekend. The return of sunny, 25°C days by Sunday will be a welcome change after the rainy start.
