Sarnia residents can expect a cool and unsettled week, with a mix of sun and cloud early on before conditions improve later in the week, according to Environment Canada.
At 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport recorded partly cloudy conditions and a temperature of 14.8°C, with northeast winds gusting to 32 km/h. Environment Canada forecasts a high of 17°C on both Monday and Tuesday, with northeast winds of 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h, making it feel brisk for anyone spending time outdoors.
Overnight lows will range from about 5°C to 11°C throughout the week. Wednesday brings a 60 percent chance of light rain, with about 1 millimetre possible, according to The Weather Network. The rest of the week looks mostly dry, with precipitation chances between 0 and 30 percent.
Conditions are expected to improve by Thursday, when Environment Canada forecasts sunny skies and a high of 21°C. Saturday is also expected to be sunny with a high of 20°C. The late-week sunshine will be welcome after the cloudier and cooler start, making Thursday, Friday, and Saturday the best days for outdoor plans.
These temperatures are slightly below Sarnia’s typical September average high of 22.2°C, based on climate normals from 1991 to 2020. Residents heading out in the mornings or evenings should pack a light jacket, and an umbrella is a good idea for the first half of the week.
