Sherwood Park residents looking to host neighbourhood events can now apply for funding through the local government. Strathcona County is offering Community Connection grants of up to $400 to help residents organize gatherings that promote safety, social connections, and community well-being. Applications for this funding opened on March 31, 2026, and will remain open until April 30, 2026.
The grant program is part of the county’s effort to support local initiatives and build community spirit. In 2025, the program supported 146 different projects, ranging from block parties and street concerts to the creation of community gardens and the distribution of emergency preparedness kits. Participation in the program has grown steadily over the last several years, reflecting strong interest from residents in creating more opportunities for neighbours to connect.
Beyond the smaller neighbourhood grants, the county also offers Community Change grants of up to $2,000 for residents, community groups, and non-profit organizations. These efforts align with the broader Social Framework strategy, which has guided social action in the area since 2017 and is now managed under the Community Safety and Well-being strategy.
Residents who are interested in applying or who would like to discuss their project ideas before submitting an application are encouraged to reach out to the Social Framework Grants team. They can be contacted by phone at 780-464-4044 or by email at [email protected] for assistance.
