The Peninsula Singers are bringing a musical tour of the world to Sidney, British Columbia, this weekend with their latest performance, Passport to Broadway. The show takes place at the Charlie White Theatre, located at 2243 Beacon Avenue inside the Mary Winspear Centre.
Performances are set for Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at 7:30 PM, followed by a Sunday, May 3, matinee at 2:00 PM. Doors open 30 minutes before each show. Tickets are available for $41 for adults and $20 for youth aged 12 and under.
The concert program features songs from popular Broadway musicals, including Les Misérables, Wicked, Newsies, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and Beetlejuice. The production also highlights Canadian content with selections from Anne of Green Gables. The chorus, which is led by artistic director Lena Palermo, will be supported by a live band.
Founded in 1980, the Peninsula Singers has grown into a show chorus of approximately 55 to 60 members ranging in age from 20 to 90. Over the years, the group has supported the Saanich Peninsula Hospital and Health Care Foundation by donating $60,000 to its music therapy program.
