Residents in Steinbach looking to gain lifesaving skills can now sign up for weekly first aid and CPR certification courses offered by the Eastman Safety Training Centre. The non-profit organization, located at 62 Life Sciences Parkway, provides training for both community members and local businesses to help ensure residents are prepared for emergency situations.
The centre is an authorized training partner of the Canadian Red Cross and offers courses that are approved by Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health. These programs help local employers meet the provincial requirement to follow Canadian Standards Association curriculum for workplace first aid.
According to the Canadian Red Cross, immediate intervention can be critical, as survival rates for individuals in cardiac arrest can drop by 7 to 10 percent for every minute that defibrillation is delayed. Using an automated external defibrillator, or AED, can save the lives of 30 percent or more of those experiencing cardiac arrest.
In addition to regularly held classes at their Steinbach facility, the organization provides options for on-site training for groups and businesses. A first aid course is coming up on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, running from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Those interested in learning more or registering for upcoming sessions can contact the centre at 204-905-2583, 204-371-1595, or by email at [email protected].
As the third largest city in Manitoba, Steinbach serves a large trading area, and access to these safety certifications remains an important resource for the community and surrounding region.
