The Steinbach & District Farmers Market is preparing for its 2026 summer season, with local vendors returning to the Clearspring Shopping Centre every Thursday. The market will operate from June 18 through September 24, from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the shopping centre located at 178 Provincial Trunk Highway 12 North in Steinbach, Manitoba.
Organized by the Steinbach District Farmers Market Co-op, the weekly event typically features between 20 and 30 vendors. Shoppers can find a variety of items, including fresh produce, baked goods, preserves, handmade crafts, jewelry, and clothing. The market is affiliated with Direct Farm Manitoba, a provincial organization that supports direct marketing farmers and local markets.
The market has been a long-standing tradition in the community, with coordinator Brenda Gregoire noting that it likely began in the early 1990s. As the third-largest city in Manitoba, Steinbach continues to grow, and the market remains a central gathering place for residents in the Eastman region.
While the Thursday market returns to its familiar location, residents will have another option this year. In March 2025, the Steinbach City Council approved a new farmers market to operate on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Southeast Event Centre parking lot. This new downtown market, running from June through September, may introduce new competition for vendors and shoppers in the community.
