The Steinbach City Council is set to award construction contracts on March 3, 2026, to begin a series of road and sewer repairs across the city of Steinbach, Manitoba. These projects are part of the city’s annual plan to upgrade local services and prepare for new housing and business growth.
Major work planned for this year includes replacing the sewer line on Millwork Drive and twinning the Park Road West force main to expand capacity. The city has set aside approximately $18.2 million for these infrastructure renewals and equipment replacements throughout 2026.
Residents can expect to see crews starting work this spring. This will lead to short-term lane closures, construction noise, and changes to how people access certain areas while the improvements are completed.
Alongside these repairs, the council is moving forward with a new regional wastewater treatment facility. They are also considering a plan to change land-use rules for properties on McKenzie Avenue to allow for more homes to be built in the community.
