The Steinbach Arts Council is bringing Kleefeld-born pianist Valerie Dueck back to Steinbach, Manitoba, for a homecoming concert at Grace Mennonite Church on April 11, 2026. The performance marks a milestone birthday for the international artist and offers a rare chance for the community to see her perform in an intimate setting.
The show, titled From Night to Light, is a multi-sensory experience that combines piano music with poetry and visual art. Valerie Dueck will perform pieces written by Canadian and women composers that follow a theme moving from darkness and constellations to light and utopian ideals.
Dueck grew up in nearby Kleefeld and has since performed on three continents, including work with the Vienna State Opera and the National Arts Centre in Ottawa. She first developed her musical foundation in the local community before starting her international career as an opera coach and pianist.
Tickets for the 7:00 PM performance are $25 for adults and $12.50 for students.
