Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Sylvan Lake, Alberta, as a spring storm is expected to bring up to 20 centimetres of snow to the region. The warning was put in place on March 11, 2026, and remains active through the following day.
Total snow amounts are forecasted to reach between 15 and 20 centimetres in several locations. The snow began late on Wednesday night and is expected to continue falling through Thursday, March 12, before it starts to slow down in the evening hours.
According to Environment Canada, the weather will likely make travel difficult for anyone on the roads. Visibility may be reduced at times, and residents might find it hard to navigate walkways and streets due to the snow buildup.
The weather service expects the snow to taper off by Thursday evening. People living in Sylvan Lake and Red Deer County are advised to check for updates and take extra care if they need to be outside during the storm.
