As of 1:00 PM Monday, the temperature at the Fincastle weather station hit 24.2°C with a humidex reading of 26, and the day is expected to peak at 30°C under a mix of sun and cloud. Tuesday will bring similar warmth with a high of 29°C before clouds roll in during the afternoon.
The elevated UV index has prompted sun safety reminders for anyone planning to be outdoors. Environment Canada advises that when UV levels reach 8 or higher, people should limit time in the sun, especially between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., wear UV-blocking sunglasses, stay in the shade, and reapply sunscreen every two hours or after swimming or sweating.
