Severe weather continues to threaten parts of central Manitoba on Monday, June 8, 2026, even as conditions improve in The Pas. While a severe thunderstorm watch for The Pas has been lifted and the forecast now calls for clearing skies, Environment Canada warns that dangerous thunderstorms remain possible in nearby areas through the overnight hours.
As of midday, conditions at The Pas Airport were sunny and 20°C with southwest winds gusting to 52 km/h. The earlier severe thunderstorm watch for the region had warned of hail up to five centimetres in diameter, wind gusts reaching 110 km/h, and local rainfall amounts exceeding 50 millimetres — hazards that remain a risk for communities further south and east.
Earlier this evening, tornado warnings were active for areas near The Pas, including Lake Winnipegosis, Grand Rapids, Easterville, and the R.M. of Mountain. Meteorologists tracked severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes in those areas, with an extreme impact level and very high forecast confidence. The warnings have since expired.
The current severe weather follows an active start to June across Manitoba, where at least three confirmed tornadoes touched down in the southern part of the province on June 2, 2026. Manitoba typically sees seven to 10 tornadoes each year, with June and July being peak months for such activity.
Once the storms clear, residents of The Pas can expect a bright day Tuesday with mainly sunny skies and a high of 26°C. Cooler, cloudier conditions return for the rest of the week, with highs ranging from 15°C to 21°C.
