The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 19 in The Pas, Manitoba, has closed its doors until further notice following a water main break inside the facility at 4 Veterans Way.
The closure, which began roughly 22 hours ago, has forced the suspension of all regular programming at the branch, including popular bingo nights. The location serves as a vital hub for local residents, hosting various community gatherings, veteran support services, and charity events.
This disruption comes just six weeks after the Manitoba government announced $58,250 in funding for the facility. These funds were intended for upgrades to improve accessibility, safety, and the long-term sustainability of the building. Like many locations across the country, the local branch relies on fundraisers, hall rentals, and community events to support its operations, as noted by the Royal Canadian Legion.
The branch has not yet announced a date for when it will be able to reopen. Community members are encouraged to monitor local updates as the organization works to address the damage.
The Pas is home to approximately 5,639 residents, many of whom rely on the Legion as a central gathering place. The facility has a history of hosting significant community events, ranging from the MS Walk and film screenings to large-scale lottery draws.
