Thompson RCMP are looking for three people wanted in connection with the May 20 stabbing death of a 21-year-old man from Leaf Rapids, Manitoba. Police have issued arrest warrants for 24-year-old Marshall Merasty, a 17-year-old boy, and 19-year-old Eternity Chastelaine, but have so far been unable to find them.
The stabbing happened around 2:20 a.m. in an open area off Princeton Drive. Officers arrived after a report of the incident and found the victim, a young man from the small mining community of Leaf Rapids about 150 kilometres northwest of Thompson. He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries.
Merasty and the 17-year-old are both charged with second-degree murder. Chastelaine faces a charge of manslaughter. RCMP announced the charges in a news release, saying the investigation is being led by their Major Crime Services with help from Forensic Identification Services.
