Thompson, Manitoba residents can look forward to a stretch of warm, mainly sunny weather this week before rain chances return for the weekend, according to Environment Canada.
The forecast calls for temperatures climbing from a high of 22°C on Monday to 26°C by Thursday, with Saturday expected to reach 28°C. Tuesday is expected to be mainly sunny with a high of 23°C, while Wednesday and Thursday will see a mix of sun and clouds with highs of 25°C and 26°C. These readings are slightly above the seasonal normals for late June, which typically see a high of 21°C and a low of 9°C.
As of early Monday afternoon, conditions at the Thompson Airport station were partly cloudy with a temperature of 20.1°C, humidity at 40 percent, and light east winds at 9 km/h.
The pleasant weather offers a good window for outdoor activities, gardening, or making plans before the pattern shifts. Shower chances are expected to creep back in starting Friday at 30 percent, and by Sunday that probability climbs to 60 percent.
The warming trend lines up with Environment Canada’s summer seasonal outlook released earlier this month, which predicted warmer-than-normal temperatures for much of Canada as the country transitions to El Niño conditions.
