Thompson residents on Pike Crescent are dealing with a water disruption this week, while Dominion Bay drivers face road work for new curbs as part of city infrastructure upgrades. The City of Thompson issued the water outage notice for July 7, and crews began the Dominion Bay curb installation today at 7 a.m., tying into the wider 2026 road renewal push.
The Pike Crescent water disruption occurred Tuesday, and the city posted a notice about it Wednesday on the city’s news and notices page. Affected households should check the site for updates on when taps will run again. Meanwhile, Dominion Bay is restricted to local traffic only, and the city asks everyone to park outside the area until the curb work wraps up.
Once the new Dominion Bay curbs are poured, driveway access will be off limits for 72 hours. That means residents won’t be able to use their driveways for three full days after installation finishes. More paving is scheduled for Dominion Bay, Centennial Drive West, and Princeton Drive in the days ahead.
Other disruptions are coming this week. A road closure hits Centennial West on July 9 for curbing, and Thompson Drive South will see lane closures on July 10. These jobs are part of an $87 million roads and sewer renewal plan that’s now in its third year. The city is using $33.3 million in federal and provincial cash to fix about 20 kilometres of failing road, with $20 million coming federally and $13.3 million provincially.
The city urges residents to sign up for Thompson Connect, its direct notice system for road closures, water shutoffs, and boil water advisories. Anyone with questions about the work can contact Development and Technical Services through the city website.
