A 21-year-old Thompson woman is in custody and facing an aggravated assault charge after a man was stabbed early Friday morning on Princeton Drive in Thompson, Manitoba.
Thompson RCMP say officers were called to Princeton Drive around 4:35 a.m. on June 26, 2026, where they found a 34-year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
Police arrested Samantha Moose without incident later that day at an apartment on Princeton Drive. She was formally charged on June 27 with aggravated assault and was remanded into custody for a court appearance.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Princeton Drive and seized a weapon they believe was involved in the assault. The Thompson RCMP continue to work on the case with help from RCMP Major Crime Services.
Aggravated assault is a serious criminal charge that comes with a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison if a conviction is reached.
This is at least the second violent incident on Princeton Drive in recent weeks. Another stabbing in May 2026 left one person dead and triggered a homicide investigation in the area. Thompson has long struggled with high levels of violent crime, scoring 570 on the Violent Crime Severity Index, far above the national average of 82.44.
