Thunder Bay residents looking to buy tickets in person for summer shows will need to plan around a week-long closure at the Community Auditorium box office. Starting June 29, the box office at 1 Paul Shaffer Drive shuts down for renovations and won’t reopen until July 3, 2026.
The closure falls right over Canada Day, a time when many locals might drop by to grab seats for upcoming events. Those wanting tickets for three big shows right after the break—Dogs Do Magic on July 10, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Steve Earle on July 13, and the K-pop style spectacle K-Hunters: The Show on July 14—can still buy them online through Ticketmaster anytime.
“Please be advised that our Box Office will be closed this week due to renovations (June 29-July 3). Regular hours will resume next week,” the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium posted on its website. The venue’s regular in-person hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays from noon to 4:30 p.m., plus three hours before any show.
The renovation is part of a bigger facelift for the 40-year-old landmark. The auditorium, home to the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra and host to about 150,000 people each year, has a $10 million capital campaign on the horizon to upgrade the facility, including lobby improvements already underway. A series of 40th anniversary auctions aims to raise $30,000 toward the work.
