In Tillsonburg, Ontario, Annandale National Historic Site and Museum will open its doors on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. as part of Doors Open Tillsonburg.
The event gives residents a chance to step inside Annandale House, the 1880 home built by Edwin Delevan Tillson, Tillsonburg’s first mayor. The house is known for its ornate hand-painted ceilings, decorative stenciling, intricate woodwork and stained glass.
According to Parks Canada, the interior was shaped with help from Detroit decorator James Walthew between 1883 and 1887, after Mary Ann Tillson was influenced by Oscar Wilde’s 1882 lecture, The House Beautiful.
Doors Open Tillsonburg is part of Doors Open Ontario, which is marking its 25th season in 2026. The provincewide program has drawn more than 9.5 million visits since it began in 2002.
The site also houses the Tillsonburg Museum, which holds more than 18,000 artifacts from the town’s past.
