Environment Canada says Monday will be the warmest day, with the mercury climbing to 18°C under a mix of sun and cloud before skies clear this afternoon. A northeast wind will pick up to 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h, making it feel a bit cooler by the water.
As of early afternoon, the Tuktoyaktuk Airport was reporting mainly sunny conditions at 16°C, with humidity at 64 per cent and visibility a clear 24 kilometres. No weather alerts are in effect for the area.
Things change overnight Monday as a rainy system moves in. Environment Canada is calling for rain on Tuesday, with amounts between 5 and 10 millimetres expected. The high will dip to 14°C. Wednesday will bring a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 13°C before a noticeable cooldown settles in. Thursday will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers and a high of just 6°C, well below the July average high of 17°C.
The week finishes cool and cloudy, with highs near 10°C on Friday, 11°C on Saturday, and 12°C on Sunday. While the forecast doesn’t point to any major storms, anyone with outdoor plans should keep an eye on the sky, especially Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
