A 34-year-old woman from Montreal has been arrested and charged in connection with a weapons incident where a man was sprayed with a noxious substance in Cambridge, Ontario. Waterloo Regional Police say the attack happened on August 9, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m., near Glebe Street and St. Andrews Street in the Galt area.
Police responded to a report of a man being sprayed by an unknown female. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and the suspect fled before officers arrived. The arrest came the following day, on August 10, 2026, at approximately 7:45 p.m.
The accused faces three charges: assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and administering a noxious thing with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm. She was held in custody for a bail hearing.
Under Section 245 of the Criminal Code, administering a noxious substance with intent to endanger life is an indictable offence carrying a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison. The Waterloo Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate.
This incident follows a similar attack in September 2025 at the Cambridge Fall Fair, where two teens were arrested after bear spray was used on four people. Police have not indicated whether the two cases are connected.
