Residents in Watson Lake, Yukon, can look forward to more time on the slopes as fresh snowfall arrives at Mount Maichen during the final weeks of the winter season. The recent weather is helping maintain the quality of the trails for local families and skiers as the hill prepares to close for the year in mid-April 2026.
The ski hill is located about eight kilometres from town and features nine kilometres of total slopes. It sits at an elevation between 700 and 920 metres and has been open to the community since late December.
While weather and school holidays can change the hours, the facility is usually open to the public from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This new snow is expected to provide better conditions for weekend visitors looking to get outside before the season ends.
Local management at the hill is responsible for grooming the trails and making sure conditions are safe for everyone using the park. This late-season boost helps ensure the hill remains a reliable spot for recreation until the season concludes next month.
