The Wetaskiwin Public Library in Alberta is opening its doors after hours for a special Teen Takeover event on Friday, March 20, 2026. This teen-only evening will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., giving local youth a dedicated space to socialize and participate in activities when the building is usually closed.
The event is free to attend and includes various games, crafts, and activities. While there is no cost, registration is required to secure a spot, and eight people have already signed up for the session as of March 11, 2026.
These takeover events are a regular part of the library’s effort to provide safe and supervised spaces for teenagers in the community. Past sessions have featured activities such as Mario Kart tournaments and Nerf wars, according to records from the library’s previous events.
Beyond these special after-hours nights, the library also hosts weekly Teen Time sessions every Tuesday afternoon to keep youth engaged. These programs are often supported by the Friends of the Wetaskiwin Library Society, an organization that helps fund library services through initiatives like local book sales.
