The County of Wetaskiwin council is meeting on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to discuss local laws and fire services. The session will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the County Administrative Building in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
Residents can attend the meeting in person or join online using Microsoft Teams. Led by Reeve Josh Bishop and Deputy Reeve Ken Adair, the seven-member council is expected to review updates to county rules and general governance matters.
The meeting will also cover fire protection, which is managed by Mike Zajac, the director of emergency services. The county currently oversees six fire departments that serve residents in specific areas including Mulhurst Bay, South Pigeon Lake, and the Wetaskiwin rural region.
These discussions follow the recent approval of a $28 million operating budget and a $14 million capital budget for 2026. The county is focusing on maintaining essential services while addressing a growing infrastructure deficit that includes 197 bridge structures.
