The City of Wetaskiwin has issued a public notice warning residents that Energyvise Ltd. has been licensed to conduct door-to-door sales in the community to promote the Clean Energy Improvement Program. City officials stress that they have no affiliation with the company and are urging homeowners to exercise caution when considering unsolicited sales offers.
While provincial regulations ban the door-to-door sale of many household energy products, such as furnaces and water heaters, Government of Alberta rules do not currently prohibit the direct sale of solar panels. Residents who are approached by sales representatives are advised that legitimate solicitors from the company must be able to present a valid business licence upon request. The City notes that any such representative will not ask for money upfront.
The warning comes as the community’s local solar financial incentives have reached full capacity. The 2026 Solar Installation Grant Program, which provides ten $5,000 grants, is currently full, with new applicants being placed on a waiting list. Similarly, the Alberta Municipalities-administered Clean Energy Improvement Program has reached its capacity, though the city is still accepting pre-qualification applications for its own waitlist.
The public is reminded to remain vigilant regarding aggressive sales tactics. Following reports of issues with other companies in the province, including complaints regarding misleading information and contract disputes, the Utilities Consumer Advocate recommends that residents carefully research any home improvement offers before signing contracts or providing personal information.
