The Whitby Farmers’ Market is beginning its 29th season in Ontario today, May 13, 2026. Residents can visit the market every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Celebration Square, located outside the Whitby Public Library at 405 Dundas Street West.
Established in 1997 by the Durham Region Farmers’ Market Association, the market provides retail space for local growers, producers, and artists. The organization operates under a three-year agreement with the Town of Whitby, which hosts the event on municipal property. The market moved to its current location at Celebration Square in October 2017 to improve accessibility for downtown residents and library visitors.
Market manager Sara Demoe, who has led operations since 2020, oversees both the Whitby location and the satellite market in Brooklin. The Brooklin site, which is entering its 6th season, will begin operations on Saturdays starting June 13 at Municipal Parking Lot 9, located at 3 Vipond Road across from the Brooklin Library and Community Centre.
Visitors to the Whitby location can expect weekly live music performances from local musicians. Additionally, a new permanent sign has been installed at the site following a multi-year effort to mark the location. With peak season attendance estimated at more than a thousand visitors weekly, organizers are currently looking into options for indoor, year-round space.
The market is set to run in Whitby through October 14. Residents interested in vendor information or upcoming 2026 events can visit the official website for details.
