Whitby property owners have until September 29 to pay the second and final instalment of their 2026 property tax bill. The Town of Whitby extended the due date from the usual last business day of September because Town Hall will be closed on September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Anyone paying in person can take advantage of extended Town Hall hours on September 28 and 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents paying online should allow three to five business days for their payment to reach the Town, so it is wise to pay well before the deadline.
Late payments will face a 1.25 percent penalty on the first day of default, and penalties will continue on the first day of each month until the balance is paid. For the average Whitby homeowner, the 2026 property tax bill is about $5,535 following a 3.44 percent tax increase adopted by council.
This is the final tax payment for 2026 under a new schedule introduced this year, with instalments due on the last business day of February, April, June, and September. Residents with questions can contact the Town’s tax division.
