Orangeville students at Georgian College in co-op programs can begin signing up for summer work terms starting on March 2, 2026. This registration is a major milestone for local students in Ontario who complete work-integrated learning placements to graduate from their programs. These hands-on roles provide students with professional experience and help them build contacts with potential long-term employers.
The Orangeville campus offers various programs that require work-integrated learning, including health, human services, and business. While co-op terms in business are typically paid and last for 14 weeks, students in health and human services programs often participate in clinical or field placements to satisfy their graduation requirements. These placements involve supervised work that matches the student’s field of study and are mandatory for many to finish their education.
The college currently partners with about 6,200 employers to provide these opportunities for its students. Local support is available through the Career and Employment Community Services office located at the Edelbrock Centre. This department helps students find placements and prepare for a competitive job market.
President Kevin Weaver has highlighted the importance of these work-integrated learning opportunities for student success. By connecting with local partners, students can gain the experience they need to find permanent jobs within the community after they graduate.
