The Orangeville Public Library is teaching residents how to use professional laser equipment during two upcoming workshops at the Alder Street branch in Orangeville, Ontario. An adult session is being held on March 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., with a session for youth ages 9 to 17 following on March 4, 2026, at 3:45 p.m.
Participants will get hands-on experience with the xTool P2S, a specialized machine used for high-precision engraving. During the class, attendees will learn how the laser works and follow safety steps to design and create a custom engraved coaster to take home.
To participate, residents must follow the library’s Makerspace rules, which include having a valid library card and signing a user waiver. These workshops take place in the Creation Lab, a dedicated space for community projects that opened at the 275 Alder Street location in early 2024.
Library CEO Laura Warner oversees the facility, which aims to give locals access to expensive tools they might not otherwise be able to use. Registration is required for both sessions, and participants are asked to ensure their library card is in good standing before the event begins.
