On March 1, 2026, a 28-year-old woman from Brantford, Ontario, was arrested after she allegedly fled a traffic stop in a stolen vehicle and crashed into a hydro pole. The incident began at approximately 12:30 p.m. when an officer with the Brantford Police Service pulled the vehicle over after observing a driver believed to be wanted on outstanding warrants.
According to police, the driver initially stopped the car but then drove away from the scene. Officers decided not to pursue the vehicle in the interest of public safety. A short time later, the car hit a hydro pole and the driver tried to escape on foot before officers caught her a short distance away.
Following an investigation, police found the vehicle was reported stolen and was using 3D-printed licence plates. The driver was also found to be operating the vehicle with a suspended licence and had four outstanding warrants for her arrest at the time of the crash.
The woman faces several criminal charges, including obstruct peace officer, dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, and possession of stolen property. She was also charged with 10 offences under the Highway Traffic Act and was held in custody for a bail hearing.
