The City of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, is looking for resident input on the design of a new waterfront playground. Starting March 3, 2026, officials began asking families to help choose the equipment that will be installed in the area around Kwinitsa Station.
This project is part of a long-term plan to improve the harbour area called the 2030 Redesign Rupert Vision. The playground is fully paid for by government grants, which means the city is not using local tax money for the construction.
The city is asking for feedback through a public survey that will stay open until March 27, 2026. Residents can choose which play structures they prefer for the site, or they can pick up a paper version of the survey at City Hall.
Mayor Herb Pond said that using grant money for the playground allows the community to enjoy new outdoor spaces while the city focuses its own budget on important repairs and city services. Future work in the area will also include new covered seating, a welcome plaza, and signs that explain the history of the waterfront.
