Fort Henry in Kingston, Ontario, will open its doors for special programming during the school break from March 16 to March 20, 2026. The historic site will be available to the public daily from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM throughout the week.
The St. Lawrence Parks Commission, which manages the fort, is opening the site to provide a dedicated recreational and educational space for local families and students. This initiative offers a rare chance for residents to visit the 19th-century military fortification during its standard off-season.
The event marks a shift from the fort’s usual winter routine, as the site is typically closed to the general public this time of year. While the fort normally runs its full living history museum and military demonstrations during the summer months, the March Break schedule focuses on providing historical activities for visitors.
Families looking for local activities can explore the grounds and take part in the planned programming over the five-day period. The fort is a well-known national historic site that serves as a major landmark in the community.
