Residents in Port Alberni, British Columbia, will no longer need to adjust their clocks twice a year following the upcoming time change on March 8, 2026.
The Government of British Columbia announced that the province will permanently stay on daylight saving time after the final shift this March.
This decision follows a 2019 public consultation where more than 90 per cent of people across the province supported ending the practice of changing clocks.
Premier David Eby and provincial officials finalized the plan to move to a year-round time zone to provide more stability for local businesses and support better health for citizens through consistent sleep patterns.
While the province previously waited to coordinate with neighbours in the United States, the government decided to move forward independently to ensure predictability for daily routines starting this year.
