The temperature is expected to reach 28°C, with a Humidex of 31, and wind from the south at 20 km/h gusting to 40 km/h.
As of 11:00 AM PDT on Monday, August 24, there are no active weather alerts for the area, according to Environment Canada and The Weather Network. However, the risk of thunderstorms follows a period of unusual storm activity on Vancouver Island. On August 22, severe thunderstorms with frequent lightning prompted rare Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for the island.
Residents should be prepared for potentially hazardous driving conditions if a storm develops, including reduced visibility and the chance of flash flooding. Port Alberni has a history of flooding vulnerability, especially along the Somass River system. In December 2025, a storm caused pooling water, debris on roads, and power outages, with Roger Creek flooding under the Gertrude Street Bridge.
