Environment Canada issued a wind warning for Lethbridge, Alberta, on March 8, 2026, due to gusts that could reach 110 kilometres per hour and cause property damage.
The warning began at 4:45 AM and is expected to stay in effect until Sunday afternoon. Local officials are asking residents to secure loose outdoor objects, like patio furniture or garbage bins, to prevent them from being blown around by the strong winds.
The high winds may also cause utility outages and create dangerous conditions for drivers of high-sided vehicles. Drivers should be prepared for the wind to push their vehicles while they are on the road.
While the wind is expected to weaken by the afternoon, the weather system is also bringing a drop in temperature. Residents should expect rain to change into snow as the day continues.
