The Cornwall City Council approved a new partnership on February 23, 2026, allowing local volunteers to help maintain the 500-acre Guindon Park in Cornwall, Ontario, to keep its trail network in good shape for year-round use.
The volunteer group, known as the Friends of Guindon Park Trail-keepers Association, will work alongside city staff to care for the woods and paths. Guindon Park is the largest natural area in the city and is used daily for hiking, cycling, and water sports.
This official agreement provides a plan for the non-profit group to assist with regular maintenance and community outreach. By involving residents directly, the city hopes to ensure the trails remain safe and well-kept for winter sports and summer activities.
City officials announced the formal start of the program on March 2, 2026. This partnership allows the community to take an active role in preserving one of the most popular outdoor spots in the region.
