Cornwall Community Hospital has added a new anesthesiologist to its surgical team, a move expected to help reduce wait times for the nearly 8,000 surgeries performed each year.

Dr. Margaret Frith joined the hospital on September 3, 2026, bringing the anesthesiology team to six physicians, according to a news release from the hospital.

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Frith to CCH and to continue strengthening our anesthesiology team,” said Dr. Anastasios Boubalos, Chief of Staff at Cornwall Community Hospital.

Dr. Frith was raised in Brockville and completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University. She earned her medical and Master’s degrees from Saba University School of Medicine and finished her anesthesiology residency at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2022. She practised as a staff anesthesiologist with IU Health before returning to Canada.

The recruitment was led by Health Workforce Innovations Inc., a Brockville-based physician recruitment firm. The hospital has recruited 30 new physicians across the organization in 2025-2026, helping to meet the healthcare needs of the community.

The addition comes as hospitals across Canada face a shortage of anesthesiologists, which has led to cancelled surgeries and temporary operating room closures in some Ontario hospitals.
