Residents in Regina, Saskatchewan, are being told to prepare for heavy snow and strong winds on March 12, 2026. Environment Canada is forecasting blowing snow throughout the afternoon, which is expected to make driving difficult during the commute.
The weather service expects sustained wind speeds to reach 40 kilometres per hour between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Wind gusts could hit 60 kilometres per hour, which will likely create low visibility on city streets and local highways.
The City of Regina is advising drivers to exercise caution and stay back from maintenance vehicles. Drivers should maintain at least 15 metres of distance, or about three and a half car lengths, from any snow-clearing equipment working on the roads.
Light to moderate snow is expected to fall throughout the morning before the high winds begin. Residents are encouraged to allow for extra travel time and to keep a safe following distance from other vehicles while driving in poor conditions.
