The North Salt Spring Waterworks District is cleaning water pipes in the Southey Point area of Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, on Thursday, March 12, 2026. This work is being done to maintain the quality and safety of the local water supply for the community.
Crews are flushing the water lines between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to remove sediment from the system. This maintenance helps ensure the infrastructure remains in good condition for the more than 5,500 residents served by the district.
The work affects people living on or near Arbutus Road, Dogwood Lane, McGill Road, Sir Echo’s Way, and 2670 North End Road. Residents on Simson Road, Southey Point Road, and the 858–1400 block of Sunset Drive may also notice crews working in their neighbourhood.
During the cleaning process, neighbours might experience low water pressure or brief interruptions to their service. The water may also appear discoloured for a short time while the lines are being cleared.
This project in Southey Point is one part of a larger effort to refresh the water system across the entire region. The district-wide cleaning program started on March 3, 2026, and is expected to finish by April 30, 2026.
