The Raisin Region Conservation Authority and the City of Cornwall have issued a flood warning for inland rivers in Cornwall, Ontario. The warning is in effect until Monday, March 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. because recent warm temperatures and expected heavy rain are causing snow to melt quickly.
Weather forecasts show that up to 30 mm of rain could fall in the region over the coming days. This rainfall, combined with the melting snow, is pushing water levels in local rivers toward the top of their banks.
Low-lying roads, farm lanes, and private driveways are the areas most likely to face flooding during this time. Residents are being told to stay away from all watercourses and keep children and pets at a safe distance from the fast-moving water.
Property owners in flood-prone areas are encouraged to secure their belongings as water levels continue to rise during the spring thaw. The local conservation authority is working with the city to monitor river conditions and will provide updates as the situation changes.
